Job summary

The Carroll School in Massachusetts seeks a dedicated teacher for English Language Arts/Humanities in a Middle School setting. You will teach 8–12 students using a multisensory, diagnostic approach to support language-based learners.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s, preferably a Master’s, with at least 3 years of teaching experience and a commitment to culturally responsive, interdisciplinary instruction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Ability to teach using multi-sensory education methods
  • Experience or interest in interdisciplinary teaching and learning
  • Willingness to train in highly specialized approaches to teaching students with language based learning differences
  • Desire to teach multicultural curriculum
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language Arts/Humanities classes of 8-12 students
  • Apply a multisensory, diagnostic, prescriptive approach to instruction
  • Complete OG Training within the first 2 years through Summer@Carroll
  • Create highly focused, data-informed lesson plans specific to student’s needs
  • Work with Middle School curricular team to develop and customize grade-level curriculum through a culturally responsive lens
  • Develop positive working relationships with all constituencies: students, parents, colleagues, and administration
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Work in extended day program for at least 1 session a year for the first three years (fall, winter, or spring)
  • Choices may include: supervised study hall, sports coaching, art, Bounders, enrichment, Maker Space
  • Additional compensation for extended day work
