Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and reliable Assistant Coaches to support the development and performance of student-athletes in multiple sports disciplines (e.g., soccer, basketball, track & field, volleyball, etc.). The Assistant Coach will work closely with head coaches to plan and execute training sessions, support game-day activities, and promote a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist head coaches with planning and conducting practices, drills, and conditioning programs.
- Support athletes in skill development, strategy, teamwork, and sportsmanship across multiple sports.
- Ensure safety and well-being of athletes during all practices, games, and travel.
- Supervise and manage athletes during team events, practices, games, and off-site travel.
- Monitor and report athlete progress to head coaches and/or athletic staff.
- Maintain inventory and proper use of equipment and supplies.
- Uphold and enforce team rules, codes of conduct, and organizational policies.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff.
- Attend coaching meetings, clinics, and IHSAA on-line training as required.
- Assist in organizing team logistics (e.g., schedules, transportation, uniforms).
- Promote a culture of inclusion, integrity, and respect on and off the field.
- Strong knowledge of rules, techniques, and strategies in at least two sports.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and relate to youth athletes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and administration.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain prior to season start.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
Desired (Preferred) Skills
- Experience coaching sports at youth, high school, or collegiate level.
- Familiarity with sport-specific technologies (e.g., video analysis tools, performance tracking apps).
- Background in physical education, kinesiology, or sports psychology.
- Experience working with athletes with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of coaching or relevant athletic experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel with teams as needed.
- Must pass a background check and meet all compliance standards set by the school.
- Availability for weekday afternoon, evening, and weekend practices and games.
