Sylvania in Martinsville is hiring an Assistant Track Coach responsible for implementing training programs and ensuring the welfare of student-athletes. The role requires developing team schedules, overseeing equipment maintenance, and fostering communication with families.
The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma and experience in coaching, with the ability to work effectively with students. A stipend will be provided based on the Master Teacher Contract.
Adhere to all IHSAA regulations, including player eligibility, transfer policies, and required training standards. Ensure the safety, welfare, and appropriate conduct of student-athletes during all practices, competitions, and team activities. Develop and implement comprehensive in-season and off-season training programs. Monitor and support student-athletes' academic progress. Organize team schedules, coordinate transportation requests, develop game strategies, and oversee equipment inventory and maintenance. Supervise and mentor assistant coaches. Conduct parent meetings and maintain positive communication with families. Collaborate effectively with school administration and foster player development by building and maintaining a strong feeder program with the middle school. The position requires the ability to remain emotionally stable, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities and responding appropriately to student needs and unexpected situations.
High school diploma or equivalent, basic computer or communication skills (if relevant), ability to work with students, experience in schools or similar settings. Demonstrate knowledge of the sport and, often, experience as a head or assistant coach, and obtain coaching certifications.
Stipend based on the Master Teacher Contract.
