Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking an Assistant Program Director to support the daily operations and management of the afterschool program.

The role reports to the Program Director (MS 15) and requires coordinating daily programming, attending meetings, and guiding staff. Strong leadership, crisis-intervention skills, and dedication to youth development are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; candidates with an Associate's or higher in Education or Social Work are encouraged to apply.
  • Three years’ experience in youth program supervision and/or administration.
  • Experience in program development for youth.
  • Must be able to engage in crisis-intervention activities and demonstrate leadership and ability to teach group activities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; team player and approachable attitude.
  • Commitment to a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and late evenings.
  • Must pass DOHMH & DOE clearances and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Director in overseeing the daily operation of all aspects of the program.

  • In the absence of the Program Director, provide overall leadership and administration of the program.
  • Track and input student records and attendance in program databases as needed.
  • Help create an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility amongst participants, using the afterschool model.
  • Coordinate and plan program activities and culminating events.
  • Schedule and participate in parent involvement activities.
  • Network and outreach to community organizations to provide services and information to program participants.
  • Conduct outreach for participants to enroll in programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting the Program Director in the development and management of daily programming for the afterschool program.

Reports To: Program Director, MS 15

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:00pm-6:00pm

Major Duties:

  • Assist Program Director in overseeing the daily operation of all aspects of the program.
