Job description

Bates Technical College is seeking a dedicated and experienced MRI Technologist to lead and provide instruction for a new MRI Technology associates degree program launching Fall 2025. This role involves designing and delivering curriculum, maintaining industry relationships, ensuring alignment with ARRT and workforce standards, securing and coordinating clinical placements for students. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in imaging, along with a background in teaching, training, or mentoring, and a strong commitment to student success. Success in this role also depends on collaborating with healthcare providers to create hands-on learning opportunities and keeping the program current with industry advancements. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new program and prepare students for rewarding, in-demand careers in medical imaging.

This is a Tenure-Track, full-time faculty position beginning September 22, 2025 (Fall Quarter 2025).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & OTHER DUTIES

Essential Functions

  • Deliver high-quality instruction through a variety of methods—including face-to-face, web-enhanced, hybrid, and online—using best practices in individual, lab, and small group teaching that support diverse learning needs and align with students’ career goals.
  • Provide hands-on learning experiences, integrating industry best practices in MRI technology, patient care, and imaging procedures.
  • Design and deliver engaging, real-world coursework with clear expectations, timelines, and assessments that reinforce learning outcomes and support student exploration, career readiness, and completion.
  • Ensure students are prepared to obtain industry-recognized credentials and certifications by emphasizing safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards in MRI practice.
  • Document and maintain accurate student and curriculum records, including developing and maintaining a tracking system for competencies, attendance, grades, and course materials, to ensure program quality and ARRT licensure eligibility.
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners to align curriculum with workforce needs, manage clinical affiliation agreements, place students in clinical sites, and maintain all relevant documentation.
  • Continuously improve courses to meet ARRT and accreditation standards as needed and reflect industry advancements and hiring trends.
  • Maintain professional, timely communication with students, colleagues, and clinical partners to support student success and collaboration.
  • Support student recruitment, admissions, onboarding, and retention.
  • Work with instructional leadership to identify adjunct faculty needs and participate in the hiring, mentoring, and evaluation process for program faculty.
  • Deliver classroom management to maintain a suitable learning environment by responding appropriately to student conduct/problems and aid in solving them in accordance with college procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Dean and VPI, provide budget management which includes requisition and maintenance control of, and safeguard inventories of equipment and supplies assigned to the program.
Non-Essential/Other Functions
  • Actively contribute to and participate in college-wide activities in support of regional accreditation and state and federal requirements.
  • Support college student achievement practices to ensure student retention, completion,and progression.
  • Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students, and maintain student job placement records.
  • Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
  • Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.
  • Additional activities, duties and responsibilities may be added with or without notice to meet college needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and active ARRT Certification and Registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or the ability to obtain ARRT MRI Certification within 6 months.
  • Five years’ relevant experience including at least two years as an MRI Technologist.
  • Education, training or mentoring experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, employing inclusive and culturally responsive instructional strategies.
Allowable Substitution
If necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or training diverse adult learners.
