Job summary

AdventHealth in KILLEEN, Texas is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to support variable day shifts. The role emphasizes high-quality MRI imaging, patient safety, education, and teamwork within a faith-based health system.

You will operate MRI equipment, manage IV contrast per safety guidelines, perform QC, and document in EMR/PACS while collaborating with physicians and staff to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.
• ARMRIT certification or ARRT MR certification required.
• BLS certification preferred or as per policy.
• Experience in radiology and MRI training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for MRI procedures.
• Educate patients and families about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions.
• Position patients and operate MRI equipment following protocols for safety and quality.
• Administer IV contrast when required and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Perform daily QC checks and document findings in EMR and PACS.
• Maintain proper patient identification, consent, and time-out procedures.
• Document accurately in EMR/PACS and comply with imaging department policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Job Description

• PRN, as needed for variable shift coverage PRN Rate: $46.56/hour
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
• Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
• Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
• Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
