Position Summary
$10,000 new hire bonus will be distributed in the following increments:
- At the date of hire: $2,500
- After 6 months: $5,000
- After 1 year: $2,500
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or escalate needs appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.
- Assists current and new employees in the use of systems/equipment and departmental policies and procedures.
- Recognizes problems/malfunctions of equipment and may assist in making minor adjustments. Monitors service actions by outside contractors. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment per established procedures.
- Greet registered patients at their visit, triage patients, check schedules, and accompany patients to exam rooms. Assists patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and preparing for exams.
- Reviews and verifies patient identity, history, and requisition for the exam.
- Performs scans to identify possible pathology, modifies testing parameters under direction for accuracy.
- Processes and archives images as per procedures.
- Inputs patient history and relevant medical documentation into the system.
- Maintains patient safety and sterile environment, observes infection control protocols.
- Sets up physiological monitoring and stimulus equipment if applicable.
- Performs MRI scans, explains procedures, and answers patient questions.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within scope, following protocols.
Education
Experience
Approximately 2 years as an MRI technologist.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience as a registered technologist in other radiology modalities may be applicable.
- Graduate of an approved radiography school.
Licenses and Certifications
- Active, unrestricted NY State License in Radiographic Technology (R).
- ARRT (MR) Certification.
- NYS Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
This role requires occasional lifting of equipment and patients. It may include weekend work, evenings, and flexibility in scheduling.
