Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an experienced MRI Technologist to join the Radiology team. You will perform high-quality MRI procedures across all ages, collaborating with radiologists, residents, technologists, and nurses to advance clinical care, teaching, and service.

The role requires ARRT MR or ARMRIT registration, MRI certification, CPR, and a minimum of two years of MRI experience, with ALARA commitment and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Registered MRI Technologist – ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT registration required.
  • MRI Technologist certification required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' MRI Technologist experience.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy of head, thorax, abdomen; MRI terminology and procedures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ALARA principles.
  • Strong communication and independent judgment.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnosis.
  • Monitor patient condition before and after the scan to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Program scanner settings and exposure as directed by physician; apply shielding as needed.
  • Perform venipuncture and operate contrast injector per protocols, determine contrast dosage by patient factors.
  • Explain the process to patients to provide comfort and ensure quality care.
  • Notify healthcare providers when findings require immediate action.
  • Troubleshoot scanner and conduct daily QA and warm-ups.
  • Participate in teaching and in-service education for MRI procedures.
