Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a skilled MRI Technologist to join our Radiology team. You will perform high-quality MRI procedures for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, collaborating with radiologists, residents, technologists, and nurses to advance excellence in clinical care and teaching.

Qualifications

• Registered MRI Technologist – ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT registration required.
• Certification as an MRI Technologist.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an MRI Technologist.
• Knowledge of head, thorax, and abdomen anatomy and MRI terminology.
• Commitment to ALARA principles.
• Strong communication and independent judgment.
• Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand long hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for accurate patient diagnosis.
• Monitor each patient's condition before and after the scan to ensure their safety and comfort.
• Apply appropriate technique and shielding, and program the scanner to proper settings as directed by the physician.
• Perform venipuncture and operate the power injector per protocols, determining contrast dosage based on patient factors.
• Explain the process to patients to provide comfort and ensure best care.
• Notify the appropriate healthcare provider when findings require immediate response.
• Troubleshoot the scanner and equipment to minimize downtime and perform daily QA.
• Participate in teaching and in-service education programs for faculty, staff, and students.
