Job Summary

Provide quality patient imaging specific to MRI in accordance with physicians' orders. Ensure patient safety and provide high-quality testing. Prepare the MRI room for patient procedures, process images, maintain supply levels, and ensure equipment is maintained and meets manufacturer specifications. Operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards. Exercise professional and ethical judgment in performing diagnostic services. Adhere to sterile techniques. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify patient and family requirements across all age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform quality images through clinical protocols, position patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, and respect patient comfort. Demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional imaging and proper radiographic techniques. Evaluate images for quality and proper identification. Provide radiology services to all age groups. Educate patients on procedures according to age-specific needs. Address patient concerns to facilitate cooperation and reduce anxiety. Verify procedures by checking physicians' orders and prescriptions, and contact physicians with discrepancies. Understand contrast agents and prepare contrast media as needed.
  • Customer Service: Offer timely, responsive, and friendly services to patients, physicians, and colleagues. Inform patients about delays and how they are being addressed. Promote patient-centered care. Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Patient and Employee Safety: Maintain safe radiation levels at all times, perform equipment checks, and adhere to radiation safety protocols. Ensure proper patient identification and monitor during procedures. Be prepared to respond to contrast reactions and assist in first aid if necessary.
  • General Behavior: Arrive prepared for shifts, maintain a clean and stocked radiology room, communicate concerns, work effectively with team members, and perform other duties as assigned. Rotate shifts and assignments as needed. Follow safety and OSHA policies.
  • Computer System: Accurately input patient information into the system, check-in patients, and complete procedures as directed.
Experience

Basic Qualifications: N/A

Education
  • High School Diploma/GED
License, Certification, Registration
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from ARRT required at hire
  • Basic Life Support required at hire
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of procedures and exams, communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of radiation safety and infection control practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year MRI experience
  • One year of cross-sectional anatomy experience
