Description

The MRI Technologist will perform a wide variety of high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) exams while providing excellent patient care.

Sign-on Bonus up to $30K for those that qualify.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Graduate of a formal education program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).

Minimum Work Experience: 2 years Clinical MR imaging experience in a hospital or outpatient environment (Preferred).

Required Skills/Knowledge: Demonstrate appropriate patient care, technical, procedural and evaluation skills. Proficiency to perform a variety of procedures independently, consistently and effectively. Skillful operation of imaging equipment. Good judgment in correlating patient history with scanning protocols. Knowledge of pediatric imaging protocols. Adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Good communication skills. Familiarity with contrast medications and basic computer skills.

Required Licenses and Certifications: Registered Radiography Technologist (ARRT) or ARMRIT Certification (Required).

Functional Accountabilities
Clinical and Research Imaging Procedures
  • Perform exams efficiently, recognize when to adjust scan sequences.
  • Orient new technologists on pediatric imaging protocols.
  • Monitor exam orders and identify opportunities for additional exams.
  • Prioritize and coordinate patient throughput with the MR team.
  • Verify exam schedule, orders, protocols, and accuracy of assignments.
  • Assist Lead MR technologist and MR Manager with daily operations.
Quality Control
  • Verify exam requests and patient data accuracy.
  • Follow procedures for equipment warm-up, phantom scanning, and shutdown; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Check exam orders and charges; ensure exams are loaded onto PACS.
  • Respond to performance feedback; meet ACR requirements.
Patient Care
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies.
  • Greet and communicate with patients/parents professionally.
  • Explain procedures clearly; provide follow-up information.
  • Meet appointment schedules and handle urgent requests.
  • Report customer service issues promptly.
  • Share on-call duties equally among team members.
Clinic Safety
  • Follow OSHA and ACR safety guidelines.
  • Research implant safety; perform safety checks.
  • Conduct Time Outs; inquire about pregnancy status.
  • Report malfunctions immediately; complete safety training annually.
Communication
  • Conduct daily staff huddles.
  • Consult with faculty on unfamiliar issues.
  • Review department updates regularly.
  • Collaborate positively with colleagues.
  • Report personnel issues promptly.
Professional Development
  • Maintain ARRT and ARMRIT certifications.
  • Attend seminars and provide leadership.
  • Participate in QA and performance projects.
