Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform prescribed imaging procedures with minimal supervision at our Pittsburgh area facility.

The role emphasizes patient and physician communication, adherence to protocols, and participation in QA and training activities within the radiology department.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in healthcare or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of MRI Technologist experience or equivalent education and training.
  • ARRT (R) MR certification or an equivalent credential.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures following established protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians and team members.
  • Addresses patient and physician concerns.
  • Responds to adverse events and patient status changes as needed.
  • Mentors staff and serves as a resource within the department.
  • Training new staff and students in MRI procedures and QA activities.
  • Maintains quality assurance, regulatory testing and accreditation prep/documentation.

Sign on Bonus Eligible: $30,000 (3 year commitment)

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all essential job responsibilities of a MRI Technologist, including but not limited to, performing age‑specific diagnostic imaging per established protocols.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, physicians and other team members.
  • Addresses patient and physician concerns.
  • Responds to adverse events and/or any changes with patient's status. (40%)
  • Acts as a day-to-day mentor/resource for staff and others within the department. (20%)
  • Orients and trains new staff and students. (20%)
  • Performs and/or trains others relative to quality assurance activities, quality control, and regulatory testing and accreditation preparation/documentation. (10%)
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of specialty exams and analyzes data promptly to resolve problems and improve efficiency. Enter new or edit existing MRI scanner protocols. (10%)
  • Participates in standardization activities and process improvement initiatives with system-level workgroups. (10%)
  • Coverage of chief tech duties, as assigned. (10%)
  • Performs other duties, as assigned. (10%)
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Associate's degree in healthcare or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience as a registered MRI Technologist experience and/or training or equivalent education and experience.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) (MR), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
