Under the direction of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. This individual is trained and capable of performing patient care for the age groups: 0 to 105 years old.
The MRI Technologist reports directly to the Director of Imaging.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of Radiologic training through an accredited Radiologic technology program and an advanced certification in MRI.
- Licensure/Certification:
- MRI certification required.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Work Experience:
- Two years of experience as a staff technologist preferred.
- CT experience preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for the performance of MRI diagnostic procedures.
- Responsible for RIS functions as they relate to MRI procedures.
- Responsible for assisting Radiologists with procedures as required.
- Responsible for drawing up contrast material and medications.
- Responsible for starting IV’s and administering contrast material.
- Responsible for patient, peer and personal safety, and communication of information about patient examinations, schedule, patients condition and equipment to the appropriate individual.
- Responsible for inter and intra Departmental relations, maintaining professional communications.
- Responsible for conservation of supplies and monitoring equipment performance status, reporting problems to the appropriate supervisor.
- Responsible for continuing education in accordance with ARRT.
- Other duties as assigned.
