Position Summary :
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and highly skilled MRI Technologist , holding ARRT(R)(MR) certification, for a 13-week travel / contract assignment at our partner medical facility in Overland Park, KS . This position is for a dedicated weekend block schedule, covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday day / evening shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performing diverse MRI procedures in adult acute care, ICU, outpatient, and ER / trauma settings, with mandatory experience on Siemens equipment and PACS. This role requires a technologist capable of working independently, managing a daily caseload of approximately 20 patients, and producing high-quality diagnostic images.
- Shift : Weekend Block Schedule (3 x 12.5-hour shifts or similar)
Fridays : 6 : 30 AM - 7 : 00 PM (0630-1900)
- Saturdays : 7 : 00 AM - 7 : 30 PM (0700-1930)
- Sundays : 7 : 00 AM - 7 : 30 PM (0700-1930)
- Daily Caseload : Approximately 20 patients.
- Experience Required : Minimum two (2) years of recent MRI Technologist experience.
- Required Equipment / Systems : Siemens MRI scanners and PACS experience is mandatory.
- Credentials Required : Active ARRT(R) and ARRT(MR) certifications; Active Kansas State Radiologic Technologist License; BLS (AHA).
- Traveler Specifics : First-time travelers are NOT accepted. No local candidates accepted (residence must be 50+ miles away). Active Kansas license required (pending licenses NOT accepted).
- RTO (Requested Time Off) : Not generally accommodated for this specific block schedule assignment.
- Guaranteed Hours : No guaranteed hours (shifts are assigned based on facility needs for this specific weekend schedule).
- On-Call / Floating : No on-call. No floating outside of MRI scope or to sister facilities.
- Vaccination Requirements : Influenza vaccine required (Medical / Religious Exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine NOT required by facility guideline.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform a comprehensive range of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures on adult patients in various settings including acute care, ICU, outpatient, and ER / Trauma.
- Conduct examinations including, but not limited to :
Abdomen and Pelvis : Abdomen, Abdominal MRA / MRV, Female Pelvis, MRCP.
- Head and Neck : Brain, Cranial Nerves, Face / Soft Tissue Neck, Head MRA / MRV, Orbits.
- Musculoskeletal : Foot, Hand, Hip / Bony Pelvis, Knee, Lower Extremity Long Bones, Shoulder, Sternum, Upper Extremity Long Bones.
- Spine : Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, Sacrum / Coccyx, Spinal Trauma.
- Operate Siemens MRI equipment proficiently, selecting appropriate coils and protocols to ensure optimal image quality.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, screen for contraindications, and ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Perform venipuncture for the preparation and administration of contrast media as required, monitoring patients for reactions.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques such as Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, T-1 / T-2 Weighted Images, and employ surface coils.
- Perform image post-processing including Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (Client) mapping, subtraction, Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP), and Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR).
- Maintain accurate patient records and procedural documentation (EMR / RIS / PACS systems).
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including MRI safety, infection control (isolation precautions), and patient privacy.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, referring physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
Required Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) .
- Current and active Kansas State Radiologic Technologist License. (Pending licenses are NOT accepted).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience working as an MRI Technologist.
- Mandatory recent experience and proficiency with Siemens MRI scanners and PACS systems.
- Demonstrated competency in performing a wide array of MRI procedures, including those listed under "Key Responsibilities. "
- Proficiency in starting peripheral IVs and administering contrast media.
- Strong understanding of MRI safety, cross-sectional anatomy, and imaging principles.
- Must currently reside 50 miles or further from the facility's location in Overland Park, KS.
- Not a first-time traveler.
- Must meet the facility's Influenza vaccination requirement.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center.
- Additional ARRT certifications or advanced MRI training.
