Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring a Radiology MRI Technologist to join a compassionate imaging team. The role focuses on performing high-quality MRI exams, ensuring patient safety, and educating patients about procedures.

You will position patients, monitor for adverse reactions, and document results in the EMR/PACS. Requirements include at least 1 year in radiology with MRI training, an ARRT MRI credential, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred for MRI roles.

Job Description

Shift: Variable Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]
