OrthoIllinois is seeking an MRI Technologist (PRN) to operate the MRI scanner and deliver high-quality imaging while safeguarding patient privacy. You will travel between three Rockford area clinics and cover weekends as needed, ensuring accurate documentation and coordination with radiologists.

The role requires ARRT certification, an associate degree, and strong patient communication with the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Current American Registry Radiologic Technologist License (ARRT) IL state License with IDNS
• R.T.(R)(ARRT)
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft and Google suites.

Responsibilities

• Operates MRI scanner and provides high-quality imaging for diagnosis.
• Prepares patients for scans and explains procedures to help them feel comfortable.
• Maintains patient comfort and safety with tact and poise.
• Documents billing information and forwards images to radiologist for reading.

Job description

The MRI Technologist PRN is responsible for safely operating the MRI scanner and providing high quality imaging and information for patient diagnosis. The MRI Technologist is also responsible for documenting all procedures while maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.

This position will require travel between our three Rockford area clinic locations and candidates must be available for weekend coverage.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates equipment for imaging and provides high quality imaging and information for patient diagnosis
• Prepares patients for scans and explains the procedure to help them feel comfortable
• Ensures patients stay calm and receive the best care possible by using tact, courtesy, and poise
• Documents all billing information and sends imaging to the radiologist for a professional reading
• Communicates effectively with other health care professionals to ensure effective and efficient communication
• Troubleshoots peripheral equipment and scanner issues to ensure that the equipment is operating properly to avoid downtime or delays that affect patient satisfaction
• Provides training to new technologists with regular checks, direction, and qualified work samples
• Handles high-stress environments and situations in a calm manner when dealing with patients, technicians, and physicians

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school

Environmental/Working Conditions

Working environment is in an office/clinic setting. Consistent work hours outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical/Mental Demands

• Sit or stand for long periods of time, walk for periods of time, kneel, crawl, stoop, and climb stairs.
• Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects i.e., pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder in order to operate medical equipment when needed.
• Finger dexterity, the ability to twist hands/wrists repetitively.
• Vision (e.g., depth perception, color vision, strong vision up close), Hearing (e.g., high pitch sounds, soft or distant sounds).
