Job summary

Indiana University Health System seeks a PRN MRI Technologist for Arnett Hospital to support diagnostic imaging services. The role requires knowledge of MRI safety, patient screening, IV access, contrast administration, and image QA.

You will work with radiologists to ensure high-quality scans and patient comfort. Ideal candidates have up to 3 years of MRI experience, BLS certification, and a plan to obtain MRI certification within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant MRI experience.
• Basic Life Support (AHA) certification is required.
• Must obtain advanced MRI certification within 12 months of hire (RT(MR) or RMRIT).
• May require ISDH license depending on state requirements.
• MRI experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and screen for safety concerns.
• Educate patients on what to expect and ensure their safety and comfort during scans.
• Obtain IV access, administer contrast, and respond to adverse contrast events.
• Maintain safe MRI environment by screening visitors and staff entering the area.
• Apply scanning protocols, adjust settings for diagnostic images, and perform routine QC.
• Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians; document in EMR.
• Assist with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

This is a PRN MRI Technologist role at our Arnett Hospital location.

Job Description:

Possesses knowledge of MRI safety and safety zones. Reviews patient history and screens for safety concerns (ferromagnetic objects, implanted devices, etc.). Educates patients on what to expect and ensures they are safe and comfortable during their scan. Obtains IV access, prepares and administers contrast and is familiar with recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events. Possesses advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Ensures the MRI environment remains safe by screening all visitors and team members entering the MRI environment. Displays knowledge of scanning protocols and adjusts to ensure diagnostic images. Performs routine QC and ensures equipment is functioning properly. Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians. Documents necessary information in EMR. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning. MRI experience is preferred.
• Requires advanced certification through one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance, RT(MR) ; or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT): Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (RMRIT) , within 12 months of hire.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• MRI experience is preferred.
