Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a full-time MRI Technologist for West Hospital. The role involves safety screening, patient education, IV access, contrast administration, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.

Candidates should have 0–3 years of experience, BLS certification, and MRI experience is preferred; ARRT MR certification within 12 months may be required. Sign-on bonus available for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• MRI experience preferred.
• Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when patient condition requires.
• Advanced certification: RT(MR) or RMRIT within 12 months of hire.
• ISDH license may be required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and screen for safety concerns (ferromagnetic objects, implants).
• Educate patients on what to expect and ensure safety and comfort during scan.
• Obtain IV access, prepare and administer contrast, respond to adverse contrast events.
• Demonstrate advanced cross-sectional anatomy knowledge.
• Screen visitors and maintain MRI environment safety.
• Adjust scanning protocols to optimize diagnostic images.
• Perform routine QC and ensure equipment functionality.
• Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians.
• Document information in EMR.
• Assist with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

Job description

This is a full-time MRI Technologist position located at West Hospital. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 5p-3:30a.

Possesses knowledge of MRI safety and safety zones. Reviews patient history and screens for safety concerns (ferromagnetic objects, implanted devices, etc.). Educates patients on what to expect and ensures they are safe and comfortable during their scan. Obtains IV access, prepares and administers contrast and is familiar with recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events. Possesses advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Ensures the MRI environment remains safe by screening all visitors and team members entering the MRI environment. Displays knowledge of scanning protocols and adjusts to ensure diagnostic images. Performs routine QC and ensures equipment is functioning properly. Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians. Documents necessary information in EMR. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning. MRI experience is preferred.
• Requires advanced certification through one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance, RT(MR) ; or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT): Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (RMRIT) , within 12 months of hire.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• MRI experience is preferred.
