Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree required).
• ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) or Radiography (ARRT-R) required.
• MRI Registry required within 12 months of hire (if not already obtained).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required.
• State licensure as required (e.g., Texas Medical Board).
• Minimum 6 months to 2 years of MRI clinical experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and MRI safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient screenings for MRI safety risks, including pacemakers, implants, and metal exposure.
• Explain imaging procedures clearly, address patient concerns, and provide support to ensure comfort during scans.
• Monitor patients throughout procedures to identify and respond to any adverse reactions or distress.
• Position patients accurately to ensure optimal imaging results.
• Operate MRI equipment and console systems to perform exams according to established protocols.
• Adjust imaging parameters to enhance image quality while ensuring patient safety.
• Initiate IV access and administer contrast agents in accordance with physician orders and safety guidelines.
• Monitor patients for reactions to contrast media and respond appropriately.
• Review images for technical quality, ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to submission to radiologists.
• Minimize the need for repeat scans by adhering to established imaging standards.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and quality assurance checks.
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain compliance with MR safety standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements.
