Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Per Diem Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (FGP) for Staten Island, with shifts in the evenings and on weekends. You will perform MRI procedures under radiologist supervision, ensure patient safety, and operate MRI equipment per protocol to achieve high-quality diagnostic images.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, contrast administration, safety compliance, and collaboration with the radiology team.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or Technical Diploma from AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License within 180 days of permit issuance.
• Radiologic Technologist (Temporary) Permit at time of hire.
• Certification in ARRT (X-Ray) within 180 days of hire.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Reviews orders and safety screening forms to ensure exam appropriateness and patient safety.
• Prepares patients for contrast administration and allergy management as needed.
• Obtains consent and verifies patient identity per hospital protocol.
• Explains MRI procedures to patients, addressing concerns and preserving dignity.
• Maintains MRI safety standards and zone management throughout exams.
• Independently performs MRI examinations per protocol and radiologist directions.
• Operates equipment safely and performs quality checks and post-processing as required.
• Utilizes HIS/RIS systems in compliance with HIPAA and documents times.
• Collaborates with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and technologists for optimal outcomes.
• Adheres to all regulations and department policies; may require flexible schedules.
