Job Title: MRI Technologist

The MRI Technologist performs MRI examinations on patients based on department procedures and under the direction of the department Section Chief and Manager. The position requires a significant degree of judgment in performing duties.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure successful technical care for patients receiving MRI studies.
  2. Communicate clinical observations to radiologists during MRI examinations and present clinical history as documented.
  3. Demonstrate competency in venipuncture for contrast administration during MRI studies.
  4. Maintain knowledge of RIS/HIS modules relevant to responsibilities.
  5. Assist in data gathering and serve on the Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement committee.
  6. Follow downtime procedures to ensure continuity of care.
  7. Participate in ongoing professional development through in-services and continuing education.
  8. Provide educational information to patients about their examinations.
  9. Ensure quality of digital images sent to PACS, verify patient identity, and ensure accuracy of Medical Record information.
  10. Review patient safety checklist before the study.
  11. Contribute to achieving Press Ganey patient satisfaction goals, including patient education and providing personalized business cards; send apology cards when expectations are not met.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Frequent use of fingers and hands, sitting for up to 5 hours, standing and walking for up to 3 hours, pushing, pulling, and lifting patients up to 400 pounds with assistance, occasional stooping and lifting, and vision and hearing capabilities. Must not have metal implants or pacemakers contraindicating MRI work.

Education:

Graduate from an ARRT recognized program, ARRT registered, or ARRT registry eligible. Advanced MRI registry required within 1 year of hire.

Training and Experience:

Preferably 2 years as a staff technologist, with at least 1 year as an MRI technologist. Computer usage experience required. Current CPR certification is mandatory.
