Job Overview:

The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging procedures within the scope defined by Regulatory and Departmental QC standards. The technologist is responsible for reporting safety issues such as hazardous environments (damaged floors, walls, ceiling tiles, unsecured areas) and medical errors.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Trade/Vocational training in Radiologic Technology
  • 1-3 years of general radiology experience
  • NJ license
  • AART certification
  • BLS through American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • ARMRIT certification
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem
  • Day shift
  • Schedule varies based on departmental needs
Essential Functions:
  • Adapt to varying work requirements based on departmental needs
  • Address patient and staff concerns
  • Assist in moving patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and MRI tables
  • Assist in orienting department and hospital personnel as appropriate
  • Assist physicians with the administration of contrast media
  • Check equipment, supplies, and accessories regularly
  • Review requisitions for physician notes and special instructions
  • Perform correct anatomic positioning skills
  • Explain procedures to patients in an age-appropriate manner
  • Identify issues and communicate with supervisors, offering solutions
  • Perform MRI procedures with patients from neonatal to geriatric
  • Position patients and apply immobilization devices as needed
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures
