The 61st Street Service Corporation provides administrative and clinical support staff for ColumbiaDoctors. This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with the acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of MRI images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the MRI area.

Multi-site coverage in the Westchester area may be needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Perform MRIs and general radiological procedures:
    • Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
    • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
    • Observe patient while in the MRI area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary caregivers for instruction.
    • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
    • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
    • Administer contrast media via appropriate peripheral IV access as ordered and directed by staff while abiding by NY state guidelines if certified.
  • Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalency required.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience required.
  • NYS License, ARRT certified required. MRI Registry eligible.
  • New York BLS certified required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to de-escalate stressful situations.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, adaptation to change, and ability to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
  • Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices as needed (multiple sites and flexible schedule including weekends).
