An MRI Tech I performs advanced MRI examinations using high-strength magnets and radiofrequency waves. They adapt to evolving technology and imaging techniques, ensuring safe and effective imaging practices for patients with or without medical implants such as pacemakers or electronic pumps, requiring strict MRI safety protocols. The position demands independent judgment, a strong understanding of MRI physics, biological effects on human tissue, and implant safety considerations. The technologist provides compassionate care, especially for patients with claustrophobia, assisting them to manage discomfort. Operates under the general supervision of a Radiologist and MRI Supervisor.
Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program and certification by ARRT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB preferred. Requires two years of radiology imaging experience, with cross-sectional or computer-assisted imaging preferred. For those with an ARRT license not in MRI, advanced MRI certification must be obtained within two years. BLS certification is required. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy is advantageous.
