Site: Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida
Position: MRI Technologist
Schedule: Part-time Weekends; Saturday and Sunday 7:00am-7:30pm
The MRI Technologist provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor conducive to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations related to each modality.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures that the information is accurately documented.
- Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
- Applies principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others.
- Complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
- Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without the use of power injectors.
- Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Administers medical aid in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
- Utilizes all corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures the safety of all patients and staff.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Keeps work areas well-stocked and organized.
- May be required to work at any facility within the organization.
- Provides patient transport as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, or an approved MRI technologist program through ARMRIT.
Licensure/Certification
- Valid ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB, or ARMRIT certification.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
