Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee, Kansas seeks a skilled MRI Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality MRI exams and ensure patient safety. You will prepare and position patients, operate scanners and related equipment, and document results in EMR and PACS.

Role requires state licensure/certification, BLS, and the ability to educate patients about procedures and contrast safety. The department emphasizes quality, safety, and compassionate care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalency (Required)
• BLS CPR Certification (RQI) required
• Licensed Radiology Technologist and ARRT MR certification/licensure as applicable in state
• State-specific radiologic licenses and MRT/IEMA related credentials may be required

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations following physician orders.
• Educate patients and families about MRI procedures, safety, and contrast use.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast material per safety guidelines; monitor for adverse reactions.
• Review patient history to determine exam appropriateness and contraindications.
• Ensure room readiness, equipment QC, and accurate documentation in EMR/PACS.
• Maintain safety standards and follow time-out and patient identification protocols.

Job Description

Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Other duties as assigned.

• Basic Life Support – CPR Certification (BLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (R.T.-CERT) – EV Accredited Issuing Body, Department of Safety and Professional Services Licensed (DSPS-LIC) – Accredited Issuing Body
• Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
• Licensed Radiology Technologist – Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (L.R.T.) – Accredited Issuing Body

Pay Range

$29.04 - $54.02
