Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an MRI Technologist for a full-time night shift (Monday–Thursday, 9pm–7:30am). The role includes performing MRI exams, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining image quality with ARRT MRI certification required within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiography or nuclear medicine with MRI training; MRI Registry eligible via ARRT.
• Must obtain MRI certification within 12 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Explain procedures and obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients to aid exam performance and interpretation.
• Assist physicians in performing examinations using standard protocols and sterile technique.
• Apply knowledge of IVs, heparin locks, and central line usage as related to MRI.
• Ensure patient safety using side rails, braking mechanisms, and patient monitoring; report adverse conditions.
• Perform routine maintenance of imagers and processors to maintain image quality.

MRI Technologist Job Responsibilities:

• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination. Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
• Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique.
• Utilizes knowledge of IV's, heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
• Demonstrates patient safety in department by use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient monitoring. Reports, documents and corrects any adverse, unsafe or unusual conditions.
• Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of imagers/processors to maintain consistent quality images.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of radiography or graduate of an accredited school of nuclear medicine with MRI training (must be MRI Registry eligible through ARRT).
• License: American Registered Radiologic Technologists, or ARMRIT or CAMRT. CNMT certification in lieu of ARRT is also acceptable. Must obtain MRI certification within 12 months of hire.
• Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
• Experience: Prior experience preferred as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or MRI Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment or recent student at Inova Health System.
