Overview

Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures in accordance with the established professional and departmental standards and procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Reviews consultation requests, checking for special instructions from requesting physician and consults with the Radiologist or referring physician's office as necessary.
  2. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introducing yourself.
  3. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.
  4. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment located within the MRI department.
  5. Prepares and administers contrast media for administration by injection and reviews all pertinent forms.
  6. Performs MRI procedures according to established protocols.
  7. Maintains a daily activities log.
  8. Ensures appropriate storage and ordering of supplies.
  9. Monitors and reports supplies in shortage and special order items.
  10. Performs visual preventive safety inspections and conducts quality assurance tests on all equipment with regards to ACR regulations.
  11. Identifies any problems and communicates to the immediate supervisor.
  12. Evaluates recorded images for technical quality and demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper positioning.
  13. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures and administers first aid or CPR as needed.
  14. Completes needed follow-up documentation such as contrast reaction forms, extravasation reports, and Safety Tracking Tools.
  15. Exhibits telephone etiquette.
  16. Coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow.
  17. Is competent to assist scheduling clerks with non-routine exam decisions.
  18. Orders exams, tracks patient data, scans documents, and can make copies of exams as requested.
Qualifications

One year MRI experience preferred. Must complete Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation. Ability to lift patients up to 50lbs.
