MRI Technologist - Liberty Radiology Imaging - Full Time - Varies

Job Description

To operate MRI scanners, obtaining diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested. The technologist must be able to produce quality images for radiologist interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision. Cardiac MRI experience is required.

Responsibilities
Communication/Customer Service:
  • Greet patients, verify their identity and birthdate.
  • Review patient history, procedure orders, medications, allergies, and questionnaires.
  • Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and keep them informed of delays or issues.
  • Communicate professionally with all customers, co-workers, physicians, and staff.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for MRI scans, including explaining procedures, screening for contraindications, starting IVs if necessary.
  • Position patients, operate MRI equipment, and archive procedures according to protocols.
  • Knowledge of coils, gating devices, and MRI computers, including safety procedures.
  • Administer contrast media using proper venipuncture techniques, document appropriately.
  • Verify patient medications for interactions, complete work efficiently, and assist colleagues as needed.
Patient Safety and Safety Responsibilities:
  • Screen patients to reduce injury risk, instruct on MRI safety, and adhere to safety protocols including emergency procedures.
  • Use dosimeters properly and observe patients to prevent falls or injuries.
Information System Responsibilities:
  • Ensure images are correctly linked in PACS and documentation is complete.
  • Maintain knowledge of HIS, RIS, PACS, and perform tasks like burning images to CDs.
Departmental and General Responsibilities:
  • Attend departmental meetings, keep facilities stocked, assist in multi-modality training, and maintain equipment.
  • Report equipment issues, adhere to policies, and maintain credentials.
Additional Responsibilities:

Access patient records as needed for procedural, care, QA, or research purposes, maintaining confidentiality and complying with policies.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology School required.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, sterile techniques, patient positioning, and MRI equipment operation.
  • Board certification by ARRT in radiography and advanced certification in MR within 2 years if not already held. Ohio Radiographer license required. CPR certification preferred.
