Position Title:

MRI Technologist (Levels 1-2) PRN

Department:

Adult MRI

Job Description:

MRI Technologist PRN positions are available in levels 1-2 based on experience and education

General Description:

Under general supervision, produces specialized images to aid the medical staff in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients using magnetic resonance imaging equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  1. Operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce cross-sectional photographs of patient's body for diagnostic purposes
  2. Applies the physics of MRI to assist the Radiologist in diagnosis
  3. Informs patient of the procedure and ensures patient understands the importance of removing metal objects before activating the magnet
  4. Positions and immobilizes patient so desired anatomy will be demonstrated
  5. Sets up any supportive devices necessary to obtain precise positioning
  6. Responsible for entering technical data into the computer
  7. Evaluates images to ensure technical quality
  8. Administers contrast/medication in conjunction with imaging procedure
  9. Serves as a resource person for hospital and medical staff
General Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Level 1):

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiography or ARMRIT program or currently enrolled with graduation within 6 weeks of an accredited Radiological Technology or ARMRIT program.

Experience: 0-3 years of experience, MRI experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:

  • Registration from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire OR certification through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT);
  • Advanced certification in MR through ARRT within 12 months of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications (Level 2):

Education: Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty as defined by ARDMS, ARRT, and/or CCI.

Experience: 3-5 years as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. MRI credentials required by the hiring department must be current upon hire or advancement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of MRI physics. Good communication skills. Ability to work with others as a team. Ability to organize and analyze data.
