Job Description

This posting serves as a general site for all MRI applications within the Jefferson Health Central region, including the following locations:

  • Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
  • Honickman Center
  • Jefferson Methodist Hospital
  • Einstein Philadelphia

Position: MRI Technologist

Under the supervision of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce detailed tissue images for diagnosis. Responsibilities include preparing information for physicians, delivering patient care and education before, during, and after procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson's values.
  • Process and evaluate the technical quality of images, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Maintain proper positioning of patients and equipment during procedures, especially when administering contrast media, to ensure safety and success.
  • Instruct patients on body positioning during MRI exams and communicate effectively, explaining procedures and answering questions.
  • Determine equipment needs based on physician diagnoses and prepare scout films for review.
  • Maintain MRI equipment through scheduled cleaning, testing, and documentation; report malfunctions.
  • Follow MRI safety guidelines and conduct safety protocols during imaging procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques, and applications, with the ability to operate imaging technology for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to prepare patients for imaging procedures, monitor reactions, and respond to emergent situations appropriately.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Active MRI Certification
  • State license as required
