Job description

Join to apply for the MRI Technologist II- Pool role at Advocate Health.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Proficient operation of magnetic resonance (MR) equipment for basic to advanced diagnostic procedures, including angiography, thoracic, abdomen, venous, cardiac, functional MRI, gated, interventional, breast MRI, fetal MRI, and spectroscopy.
  2. Obtaining medical histories, verifying physician's orders, preparing and administering contrast media under Radiologist supervision.
  3. Positioning patients, selecting and adjusting scanning parameters, and ensuring magnet safety and protection.
  4. Post-processing images, labeling with patient info, and ensuring accuracy in identification.
  5. Maintaining regulatory records, entering data into radiology information systems, and documenting billing codes.
  6. Identifying equipment issues, performing quality assurance, and reporting malfunctions; evaluating new equipment and products.
  7. Serving as a technical resource and role model for staff and students, facilitating clinical problem-solving, and collaborating across departments.
  8. Performing patient positioning and transport duties, utilizing proper techniques, and providing age-appropriate care based on patient development stages.

Qualifications include:

  • Registered Technologist (RT) with ARRT, CAMRT, or ARMRIT certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months.
  • Advanced training in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
  • Typically 2 years of MRI Technologist experience.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Expertise in cross-sectional anatomy and MRI safety.
  • Proficiency in IV insertion and venipuncture (if required).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with basic computer skills.

Physical requirements include frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and exposure to hazards, with proper protective equipment worn as necessary.
