Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a flexi/PRN MRI Technologist at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, VA. This role performs MRI exams, explains procedures to patients, and ensures safety and documentation per protocol. Eligibility includes MRI/cert program and ARRT/ARDMS or equivalent, with MR registry achievable within 2 years.

Requires 1 year Rad Tech experience, and familiarity with GE/Siemens equipment is preferred. Prioritizes off-shift coverage including evenings, weekends, and some overnights.

Qualifications

• Completion of MRI school or MRI certificate program, or 24-month radiologic technology program.
• CNMT/ARDMS/ARRT/ARMRIT or eligible; MR advanced registry within 2 years.
• 1 year Rad Tech experience; MR exposure preferred.

Hours Flexi/PRN, Rotating Shift Primarily needed to provide coverage for off-shifts, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight hours

Overview

Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, VA, is seeking a flexi/PRN MRI Technologist to join our team! Performs general MRI examinations while maintaining safety integrity of MRI operational area for all persons including staff and customers. Maintains adequate supply inventory for performing examinations. Explains examination and procedure to patient and completes departmental documentation. Provide quality MRI Imaging to patients under the direction of a supervising physician with adherence to the required protocol standards.

Duties

• Administration of MRI contrast per protocol
• Evaluates and approves patient MRI safety screening form prior to patient entering scanner
• Knowledge of MRI safety zones and other safety regulations
• Reviewing patient records for accuracy and evaluating all implants and devices through vendor resources
• Acting as liaison with physician and supportive care personnel
• Maintaining patient records, reports, and files
• Performs patient MRI exam per protocol, reviews imaging for accuracy and quality prior to sending for interpretation
• Examination and procedure to patient and completes departmental documentation
• Explains examination and procedure to patient and completes departmental documentation

Education

Completion of MRI school/MRI certificate program OR Graduate of 24 month program in radiologic technology required in lieu of experience

Certification/Licensure

CNMT, ARDMS, ARRT, or ARMRIT (Required) Must obtain ARRT MR advanced registry or ARMRIT within 2 years of hire

BLS Experience

One (1) year experience in a Rad Tech position to include Radiologic Tech, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography or Ultrasound preferred

Six (6) months MR experience

Preferred or completion of MR didactic program

Experience with GE and Siemens Equipment

Preferred, but not required

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.24 - $61.82 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
