Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MRI scanning protocols
  • Understanding of cross-sectional anatomy for image acquisition
  • Ability to position patients safely and effectively
  • Experience with IV contrast administration and venipuncture
  • Strong MRI safety practices and infection control
  • Proficient in exam scheduling and workflow management
  • Familiarity with EPIC or similar EHR/PACS systems
  • Awareness of ACR and Joint Commission standards
  • BLS certification required or equivalent
  • Ability to support training of junior staff

Job Overview

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks an MRI Technologist II to perform evening shift MRI exams in a fast-paced academic medical setting. You will operate advanced MRI scanners, follow established imaging protocols, screen and prepare patients, start IVs for contrast as needed, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout exams. Working closely with radiologists, nurses, and other team members, you’ll support accurate image acquisition, maintain equipment and quality standards, document in the EHR, and contribute to evidence-based, patient-centered care across diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex MRI examinations according to established protocols
  • Screen, prepare, and position patients, ensuring safety and comfort throughout exams
  • Start and manage IV lines for contrast administration as required
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to optimize image quality and workflow
  • Document procedures and findings in the EHR/PACS accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain MRI equipment, rooms, and supplies, reporting issues promptly
  • Adhere to MRI safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
  • Support training and mentoring of new or junior imaging staff
