Job summary

Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health is seeking an MRI Technologist II to provide high-quality diagnostic MRI services at the Bayfront Imaging Center in St. Petersburg.

This full-time role involves performing a range of MRI procedures, ensuring patient safety, and producing optimal images for interpretation. The candidate should have MRI experience, ARRT/MR certifications (or ARDMS/NMTCB equivalents), and a preferred Florida license.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years MRI experience with cross-training in one or more modalities (radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine).
  • Current ARRT MRI (or ARMRIT/ARDMS/NMTCB equivalents) certification or equivalent credential.
  • Florida licensure preferred; valid BLS certification required.
  • Proficiency in safety protocols and quality control for radiology procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic MRI procedures with professional judgment and patient care.
  • Ensures MRI safety for patients and staff and compliance with regulations.
  • Delivers high-quality images with accurate documentation and proper patient identification.
  • Supervises student technologists and assists in onboarding new staff.
  • Maintains and uses radiology information systems effectively.

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles.

What You Will Do
  • Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology OR,
  • Graduate of accredited school of Sonography OR,
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine OR,
  • Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Mandatory minimum of two (2) years MRI experience and experience in one or more of the following areas
  • Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab, IR procedural imaging, Breast imaging or Cardiac imaging.
  • Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
  • Primary responsibility Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality
  • Must have one (1) of the following * Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification OR, * Valid American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification OR, * Valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (MRI) or Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida (Preferred).; Header/sub-bullet structure preserved
