Job description

Job Summary: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. MRI technologists perform magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Magnetic resonance technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures. They prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. Day and or Evening Shift.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Prepares and/or administers medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
  • Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assists the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • MRI safety knowledge and participates in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.

Position Details
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.
Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Preferred)

Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
