MRI Technologist - Full Time, Day, (Norwalk)

Job Summary: Performs a variety of high-quality ultrasound examinations for all patient populations, including abdomen/visceral, breast, small parts, vascular, gynecological, obstetric 1st trimester, and neonatal, according to established departmental protocols and procedures. Responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures under the supervision of a radiologist. Position includes participation in on-call and holiday shift coverage.

Responsibilities:

  • Review patient schedules and confirm patient arrivals
  • Select correct patient based on schedule and priority
  • Review scripts, prior studies, and notes
  • Check for blood work and authorization when necessary
  • Confirm patient identification and screen for MRI safety
  • Gather clinical/medical history and confirm the ordered test and laterality/body part
  • Explain the exam to the patient and perform the procedure according to protocol
  • Ensure patient comfort and check images before release
  • Input information into Meditech and PACS/ARIS portal, ensuring all images are sent
  • Communicate findings and delays appropriately

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical emergencies
  • Proficiency in IV setup and understanding of metallic implants safety
