OU Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform routine MRI exams with supervision, ensuring safety and quality standards. The role involves patient prep, contrast administration, data transfer to EMR/PACS, and basic QC.

Opportunities exist for levels 1–2 based on experience and credentials. Candidates should have ARRT/ARMRIT certification within 12 months (Level 1) or 3–5 years MRI experience with an associate degree (Level 2).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program.
• Level 1 requires 0-3 years experience with ARRT/ARMRIT certification within 12 months.
• Level 2 requires an Associate's Degree and 3-5 years MRI experience with ARRT/ARMRIT certification on hire.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform routine MRI examinations under supervision following protocols.
• Prepare patients, correlate history with orders to support imaging.
• Administer contrast per protocol and document results in EMR/PACS.
• Maintain equipment, perform basic QC, and support inventory tasks.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain competency.

These positions are available in levels 1-2 based on experience, education, and/or certification and licensure

General Description: The MRI Technologist I position is an entry‑level role that, under direct supervision, performs routine MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines, and quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources, provides safe, high‑quality, efficient, and patient‑centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings. Safely administers contrast per protocol Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance. Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards. Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting. Carries out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements. Accurately document in EMR/PACS Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices. Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.

Cardiac MRI Responsibilities (if trained and verified)

• Acquire standard cardiac imaging sequences including: LV function imaging, Short‑axis cine stacks, basic morphology and functional assessments.
• Apply ECG gating techniques including: retrospective gating, prospective gating, real‑time imaging as indicated.
• Troubleshoot basic ECG signal issues.
• Recognize common rhythm patterns.

General Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Level1)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or ARMRIT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
• Experience: 0-3 years experience.
• License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). ARRT(RT) or ARMRIT certification required within 12 months of hire.

• Experience: 3-5 years of MRI experience required.
• License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) and ARRT (RT)(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and MRI‑related terminology. Applies core MRI theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post‑processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance. Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others. Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non‑clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills. Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards. Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled. Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs. Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.

Cardiac MRI Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements (if trained and verified)

• Proficiency in breath hold coaching, patient positioning, cardiac anatomy identification.
• Knowledge of cardiac MRI contraindications.
• Knowledge and understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
