MRI Technologist - Duke University Hospital

This Position is Eligible for Relocation and a $15,000 Commitment Bonus

Schedule: Fri/Sat/Sun, 3-12hr shifts, 7am-7:30pm with Weekend Option

Summary of Work Performed / Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Perform complex, specialized tasks related to operation of high field strength magnets.
  2. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures.
  3. Assist radiologists with protocoling and performing procedures.
  4. Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed.
  5. Evaluate MR scans for quality, organize images, and label appropriately.
  6. Schedule patients and assist with clerical functions.
  7. Charge procedures and supplies in the HER system.
  8. Operate power injectors for contrast media.
  9. Provide orientation and training for new technologists and students.
  10. Ensure the psychological and physical comfort of patients during MR procedures.
  11. Use the Image Archival System effectively.
  12. Position patients and perform operations to produce specific radiographic images.
  13. Coordinate scheduling across multiple MR sites.
  14. Assist in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques.
  15. Support research activities by scanning and applying protocols.
  16. Demonstrate proficiency in over 100 MR protocols within the health system.
  17. Teach protocols and procedures to new technologists, physicians, and researchers.
  18. Perform additional duties incidental to the role.
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate or completion of an eligible program, or current registry/certification.
Experience
  • Level I: Obtain ARRT or ARMRIT in MR within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II: Minimum two years' experience as an MRI technologist.
  • Level III: Minimum four years' experience in the specialty modality.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
  • Certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or eligible for MR certification. Must be registered within 18 months.
  • BLS certification.
