Job summary

Geisinger seeks an MRI Technologist I in Radiology to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures, ensure patient safety, and support licensed practitioners. A sign-on bonus up to $25,000 is available for eligible applicants. Higher levels may be considered based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities include selecting MRI protocols, monitoring safety, administering medications as needed, and educating students and staff. Strong emphasis on quality, compliance, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) or MR, ARMRIT, or NMTCB certification required at hire.
  • Graduate from a Radiologic Technology specialty program; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures correct order, proper patient identification, and exam readiness with maintained confidentiality.
  • Uses MRI protocols and ALARA principles to optimize safety and image quality.
  • Assists licensed practitioners and administers medications per policy.
  • Evaluates images for position and quality and ensures data archiving/transfer as needed.
  • Educates and mentors students and other healthcare staff.
  • Applies MRI safety practices to minimize risk to patient and staff.
  • Conducts MRI procedures as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Selects pulse sequences based on protocol and data acquisition requirements.
  • Participates in quality and process improvement activities.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Selecting appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  • Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
