AMI is offering an MRI Technologist cross-training opportunity in New Jersey. This full-time role trains you to operate MRI equipment and prepares you for the ARRT MR boards across the Toms River, Brick, and Wall locations.

Candidates should graduate from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program, be ARRT-registered or registry-eligible, and hold BLS certification. Training includes venipuncture and adherence to safety protocols, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program or equivalent.
• ARRT registration or registry-eligible status required prior to start.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required before employment.
• Willingness to receive venipuncture training for contrast administration.
• Complete MRI cross-training program and achieve ARRT MRI registry.

Responsibilities

• Operate MR scanning unit with extensive knowledge of system software and modalities.
• Evaluate patient screening for safety in the magnetic field.
• Consult with Radiologist and implement proper scanning protocols.
• Maintain daily work schedule and document in required systems.
• Monitor patient flow and accommodate additional studies as needed.
• Perform quality control testing, calibrations, and documentation.
• Report maintenance needs to Chief Technologist/Office Administrator.
• Participate in meetings and continuing education programs.
• Respond to codes and ensure safety for patients and staff.
• Demonstrate competency with patients across all age groups.
• Perform other duties as required.

Training for this position will prepare you for the role of MRI Technologist. The responsibilities of the MRI Technologist include, but are not limited to:

• Operating all aspects of MR scanning unit, incorporating extensive knowledge of system’s computer and all program modalities to perform scanning procedures and transfer images to film or software for interpretation;
• Evaluating screening to ensure patient safety in the magnetic field;
• Consulting with the Radiologist and implementing proper scanning protocols as directed;
• Completing daily work schedule, documenting in Zotec and on any required forms;
• Monitoring patient flow and accommodating unscheduled patients and add-on studies;
• As per office policy, performing all quality control testing, equipment calibrations, warm-up and shut down procedures with proper documentation;
• Advising the Chief Technologist/Office Administrator of the need for all maintenance, service and repair work;
• Participating in office meetings, in-service programs, continuing education programs and other designated activity;
• Responding to office codes, policies and procedures to ensure optimum patient, employee, visitor and physical plant safety and security;
• Demonstrating competency in dealing with patients in all age categories: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric; and
• Performing all other duties as required and assigned.

This full time, 40 hour per week position includes varying shift times Monday-Friday with rotating evenings & weekends. This position will provide coverage and receive training in the Toms River-Hooper Avenue, Brick, and Wall office locations.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must be a current or upcoming graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, Ultrasound or accredited MRI program; registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Registered ARDMS Technologists must have professional scanning experience for consideration. Current and valid American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required prior to start of employment. Candidates must be willing to receive training and certification in venipuncture for the injection of contrast media via butterfly needle and IV catheter. In-house training will be provided. Must be willing to complete the MRI Cross Training program in accordance with the Cross Training Agreement, and successfully achieve the ARRT MRI registry.
