Job summary

AtCapitol Imaging Services in Monroe, LA is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI procedures in an outpatient setting while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and protocol adherence.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology, ARRT MR certification (or eligibility), BLS, and 1–2 years MRI experience; state licensure if applicable, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist or MRI program.
• Current ARRT (MR) certification or eligibility; ARRT (R) preferred.
• Active state licensure if applicable.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1–2 years MRI experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical training considered.
• Knowledge of MRI safety standards, protocols, and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI scanners to produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Verify patient identification, review exam requisitions, and confirm imaging protocols.
• Prepare and position patients for MRI exams with safety and comfort in mind.
• Administer contrast agents per physician orders and protocols.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions during scans.
• Maintain detailed procedure records in PACS/RIS.
• Follow MRI safety policies and screen for contraindications.
• Inspect equipment and report any technical issues promptly.
• Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to ensure timely imaging results.
• Participate in continuing education to stay current with imaging advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate MRI scanners to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.

• Administer contrast agents per physician orders and institutional protocols.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions or discomfort during scans.

• Follow all MRI safety policies, including screening of patients, staff, and visitors for contraindications.
• Regularly inspect equipment for proper function; report any technical issues promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate, timely imaging results.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain certification and stay current on imaging technology advancements.
