Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform a variety of technical procedures and ensure patient safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating MRI equipment, preparing patients, and maintaining high standards of care in line with hospital policies. This position requires a formal radiological technology education and registration with ARRT.

Qualifications

Perform a variety of technical procedures by exposure to a static magnetic field and the application of radio frequency waves to obtain high-quality images for interpretation by a radiologist, ensuring patient safety and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and calibrate the MRI unit for daily operations on both low and high field magnets.
  • Select proper imaging parameters based on individual patient needs.
  • Screen patients and visitors prior to entering the MR procedure room.
  • Assess patient physical condition regarding their tolerance to complete the exam.
  • Explain the MRI procedure and expectations clearly to the patient.
  • Verify and/or obtain informed consent for examinations requiring it.
  • Obtain and record patient history from charts, referring physician requisitions, or patient interviews.
  • Position the patient on the proper gurney for imaging.
  • Use the appropriate coil for satisfactory examination.
  • Protect and immobilize the patient according to safety standards.
  • Utilize technical equipment including computers, radio frequency generators, gradient coils, and others to produce MRI images.
  • Use complex algorithms to produce axial, sagittal, coronal, and oblique MRI images.
  • Label imaging media for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and report them to the proper personnel.
  • Assist the radiologist in developing and modifying imaging protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training for staff and students.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest developments in MRI technology.
  • Practice sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
  • Follow hospital policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain ethical conduct with all personnel.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications

Education: Completion of a formal radiological technology program approved by the AMA. CPR certification required. Registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
