Job summary

Northwell Health in New York seeks a Radiologic MRI Technologist to operate MRI equipment and produce diagnostic images under physician direction.

You will explain procedures to patients, position and immobilize them, monitor scans, assess image quality, and ensure safety for patients and staff in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Required NY DOH license, ARRT, 2 years MRI experience; familiarity with PACS and RIS; prior hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Completion of two-year AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program required.
• Licensed by NYS Department of Health required.
• ARRT registration preferred; minimum two years MRI experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Under radiologist direction, perform MRI and MRA procedures.
• Produce high-quality images with minimal patient stress and exposure.
• Provide information and explanation to patients about examinations.
• Verify patient identity and screening forms for proper MRI procedures.
• Position patient correctly on the table for the requested exam.
• Operate MRI unit per established protocols.
• Assist in orientation and training of new technologists.
• Follow departmental protocols to produce appropriate studies.
• Perform related duties as required; ADA essential functions.

Job Responsibility

• Under the direction of a radiologist, performs MRI and MRA procedures.
• Produces high quality images with minimum stress and exposure to the patient by dealing tactfully and cooperatively with patients and general public.
• Provides information and explanation to patient in regard to examination
• Checks patient identification and screening form in order to ensure proper administration of MRI & MRA procedures.
• Demonstrates the ability to properly position the patient on the table as required for the exam requested.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate the MRI unit as per protocols.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new technologists.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to follow departmental protocols to produce appropriate studies.

Job Qualification

• High School diploma or equivalency, required. Completion of two (2) years American Medical Association approved School of Radiologic Technology, required.
• Licensed by State of New York Department of Health, required.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years MRI experience in a hospital based setting utilizing a high field strength magnet, required.
• Experience with PACS and RIS and computer controlled equipment such as MR scanners, required.
