Job summary

Southcoast Health seeks a skilled MRI Technologist to join the radiology team at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. You will perform MRI exams, ensure patient safety, and maintain high-quality images.

Under the Radiology Clinical Services Manager, you will educate patients, select imaging parameters, and participate in call and holiday rotations. A $16,000 signing bonus is available for new hires.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited radiology program and ARRT/ARMRIT/CAMRT certification as applicable.
• Registration with ARRT/ARMRIT/CAMRT and BLS certification is required.
• Vaccination against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption to vaccination on hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI examinations and ensure high-quality images.
• Obtain pertinent patient information, educate patients, and document data in the EHR.
• Apply MRI safety principles and ALARA to minimize risk to patient and staff.
• Assist physicians in procedures and coordinate with the radiology team.

*$16,000 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires termed more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 24 flex 32hrs

Shift: Day/Evening shift with every 3rd weekend, call, and holiday rotation

Location: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.

Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Radiology Clinical Services or designee, perform diversified clinical patient care, technical and related duties within assigned modality as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Assume responsibility for each assigned patient, perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure request. Obtain pertinent information from patient*s chart and document all data within the EHR. Educate patient for exam. Position patient and select appropriate imaging equipment and supplies. Identify, prepare and/or administer pharmaceuticals related to the exam/procedure. Select technical factors/ parameters/sequences to produce quality images. Properly identify anatomy and evaluate images for technical quality. Apply the principles of MR safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others and aware of the principles of ALARA. Assist physicians in performing procedures.

• Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiation Therapy and attainment of post-primary certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) - OR - the successful completion of an accredited program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and attainment of primary certification from the ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT.
• Registration with the ARRT, ARMRIT or CAMRT and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
