Job summary

Jobtailor in Lorain, Ohio is seeking a certified MRI Technologist to perform routine MRI examinations, ensuring patient safety and comfort while following protocol. The role includes reviewing patient data to determine contraindications and maintaining QA for the MRI system.

The candidate will educate patients, assist with billing via RIS, and mentor new hires and radiology students. A strong knowledge of anatomy and imaging modalities is essential, with ARRT/ARRT and BLS credentials preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or ARRT pathway.
  • Currently in good standing with ARMRIT or ARRT RT(R)/RT(S)/RT(T).
  • MRI certification RT(MR)(ARRT) required within one year of hire.
  • BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes.
  • One year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or imaging modalities experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine MRI exams on patients of all ages.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable, safe and properly informed during the process.
  • Acquire and review patient questionnaires, chart and requisitions to assess contraindications.
  • Perform MRI procedures per protocol and daily QA.
  • Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exams.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • Report malfunctions and observe equipment issues; request service when needed.
  • Maintain high equipment uptime for patient access.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Instruct and mentor new hires and radiology students.
  • Attend in-service programs and professional sessions.

Job description

  • Perform routine MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages, health backgrounds and conditions
  • Ensure patients feel comfortable, safe and properly informed throughout the entire process
  • Acquire and review patient questionnaire , chart and data/ requisition to determine contraindication of having MRI examination
  • Perform MRI procedures required per protocol and perform daily QA
  • Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment, and exams
  • Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam
  • Report any malfunctions and observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems or calls for service
  • Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility
  • Processes billing via RIS
  • Instruct and mentor new hires and Radiology students
  • Attend in-service programs and professional affiliation sessions
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing
  • Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) required within one year of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • One year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities
