Job summary

Liberty Hospital is seeking an MRI Technologist for the afternoon/evening full-time shift (12pm–10:30pm) to produce high-quality MR images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. You will perform MR procedures across the health system, maintain MR safety standards, and participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with techniques, protocols, and patient care best practices.

Experience with venipuncture, pulse sequence selection, QA, and teaching students or staff is valued;

Qualifications

  • Radiologic Technology graduate from AMA approved program or MR Imaging.
  • High School Diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand anatomy/physiology, pathology, pharmacology, medical terminology and MR technique.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and attend to patient needs during examinations.
  • Perform venipuncture, manage IV access and administer medications as prescribed.
  • Select pulse sequences with established protocols and data acquisition factors.
  • Evaluate images for quality and correct patient identification.
  • Adhere to MR safety guidelines and assess implanted devices for safety.
  • Identify emergencies and respond appropriately.
  • Engage in ongoing QA and educational activities; monitor students and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned and maintain competency for the unit.

Position Summary / Career Interest:

Shift: Mid-Shift - Tues./Wed./Thurs./Fri. - 12pm - 10:30pm
The MRI technologist is responsible for producing quality MR images while providing optimal patient care and applying all principles of patient safety. MRI technologists are expected to participate in on-going training and education relating to positioning, technique and MRI safety guidelines. MR procedures are performed at multiple locations across the health system; this person shall maintain a patient-centered focus and strive to support the mission, goals and values of University of Kansas Health System and radiology department.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Demonstrate understanding of: human anatomy and physiology; pathology; pharmacology; medical terminology; MR technique; patient positioning for MR
  • Prepare patients for procedures and take care of patient needs during examinations or procedures
  • Perform venipuncture, manage intravenous access, and administer medications as prescribed
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration of established protocols and other factors that influence data acquisition parameters
  • Evaluate medical images for quality and to ensure patient identification
  • Responsible for adherence to ACR MR safety guidelines such as restricting area access, screening patients and others for MR access, and observing and controlling the MR areas
  • Possess MR safety knowledge and research implanted devices - Apply principles of MR safety to minimize risk to patients, self and others
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations
  • Perform ongoing quality assurance and educational activities as assigned
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience
  • Radiologic Technology Graduate AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology or MR Imaging

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR
  • ARMRIT--MRI Technologist Certification within 180 Days
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) upon Hire

Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
