Job summary

Akumin is seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist with a focus on patient safety and quality imaging. This role involves providing scanning coverage and producing diagnostic images at customer sites. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in Nuclear Medicine and demonstrate strong customer service and organizational skills.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree, a state license as necessary, and CPR certification. Local travel may be required 90% of the time.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide scanning coverage for Manager Operations.
• Produce high‑quality diagnostic images when working at a dedicated customer site as needed.
• Ensure patient safety including pre‑screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
• Partner with local ADDs to effectively communicate with physician groups, Radiology/Clinic Directors, and Radiologists on MRI software, customer portal, scanning protocols, and quality issues.
• Troubleshoot the scanner, coach, and peripheral equipment (including monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).
• Assist Sales team with start‑ups and new business as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Experienced MRI Technologist with 3+ years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies working in high‑pressure/high visibility environments with regular patient satisfaction surveys.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and adapt to new environments quickly.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• ARRT(R) or ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT.
• State license, as required.
• CPR certification.
• Valid state driver’s license (as applicable).
• Local travel may be required 90% of the time.

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, strong magnetic field, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
• More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk; repeat movements of hands, arms, and legs; see, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.
• Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
