Job summary

Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND is seeking an MRI Technologist to ensure imaging exams are performed with quality and safety in mind. You will review orders, assist radiologists, and maintain complete documentation.

Responsibilities include educating patients, verifying exam prerequisites, and ensuring images are correctly captured and stored in PACS. Candidates should have an ARRT credentialing pathway and preferred Radiologic Technology degrees.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • Temporary ND license accepted prior to start.
  • English language proficiency required for effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and families to optimize understanding within scope.
  • Verify proper order and collect information before exam; assist Radiologist.
  • Review images for quality and ensure they are on PACS with paperwork scanned.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during transport, positioning, and immobilization.
  • Prepare pharmacologic vials, calculate doses, and administer IV/oral contrast as required; maintain records.

Pay Range: $30.65 - $45.98

Summary: The MRI Technologist assures that a written physician order is received prior to an exam performance and collects pertinent information. The MRI Technologist reviews exams on the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), checking for quality and completeness, and completes all necessary paperwork. The technologist demonstrates regard for patient's safety and comfort.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides the patient and family with appropriate education to optimize their understanding within scope of responsibility.
  • Assures that a proper order is received prior to an exam performance and collects pertinent information prior to performing exam. Assists the Radiologist/physician with patient exams and notifies them of changes to the patient that may alter exam protocol and performance.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness. Verifies that all images are on Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) with appropriate paperwork scanned in and distributes exam for interpretation to appropriate radiologist at completion of exam.
  • Demonstrates regard for patients' safety and comfort during transportation, immobilization, and positioning of patient.
  • Prepares pharmaceutical vials for injection, calculates and measures dosage accurately, and administers orally or by intravenous injection (IV) the correct diagnostic or therapeutic dosage and completes all required records. Maintains accurate and complete record of all material received, dispensed, decayed and disposed of.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
