Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations while ensuring patient safety and comfort. You will operate scanners, assess patient history, and document results in the EMR and PACS systems. Strong communication and adaptability are essential in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires knowledge of MRI protocols, safety practices, and excellent customer service. A valid MRI training background and ability to work various shifts are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in radiology or MRI training is advantageous.
  • ARMRIT/ARRT certification not specified in posting.

Job Description:

Up to $5,000 Sign-on Bonus and $1,500 Relocation Assistance available to eligible candidates (see terms below)

Term: 12-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility:
  • One (1) year of applicable experience

  • Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible

Relocation Eligibility:
  • Must live 50 miles outside of campus address

  • Rehires that are less than 12 months from separation date are not eligible.

Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.

Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.

Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).

Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.

Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]
  • Excellent customer service skills [Required]
  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required]

  • Associate [Preferred]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ years' experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred]
